A lot of fence companies order gates as a pre-built stock item and fit your opening to whatever sizes the supplier offers. We do it the other way around: panels and gates are fabricated in-house at our Myakka City shop, built to the opening and style in front of us rather than the nearest catalog size. Our Sarasota address is an office, not a showroom — the actual building happens at the shop.
That matters most on the details a stock gate usually gets wrong: matching board width and spacing to an existing fence run, framing a wide double-drive opening for an automatic operator, or building an oversized or oddly-shaped gate that a standard supplier simply doesn’t stock.

Why in-house fabrication is worth it
Custom fabrication costs a little more than a mass-produced stock gate, but it removes the usual compromises: no forcing a standard width onto a nonstandard opening, no mismatched board spacing next to an existing fence, and no waiting on a supplier’s backorder for an odd size. Can you match a new gate to my existing fence?

How long does a custom wood gate take?
It depends on the size, style, and current shop schedule — a simple walk gate takes less time than a wide double-drive gate built for an automatic operator. We give you a real timeframe during your free estimate rather than a generic promise.
Can a custom wood gate work with an automatic gate operator?
